Himalayan Salt Lamps Benefits

Many people know me for how crazy I am when it comes to healthy living. Whenever I find something that is unusual but extremely beneficial for my health, be sure that I will be the first one to try it!

I knew about Himalayan Salt Lamps for years, and always had them throughout my house, and since I love them so much, I decided to dedicate a whole blog post for them, and share this little health secret with you.

 So what are Himalayan Salt Lamps?

Himalayan Salt Lamps are made from pure, edible salt crystals that come from the Himalayan Mountain Range (which span 5 countries: India, Nepal, Bhutan, China (Tibet), and Pakistan). The salt is collected by specialists who then create different shapes from it, add a light bulb inside, and sell them throughout the world.

They usually come in many different sizes and shapes, but my favorite shape is the “Natural” shape, which looks like a rock of salt straight from the mountain (see picture above). You can use them as a night stand, or as a decorative piece for your house. And if you want to get the most health benefits from the salt lamps, keep them on 24/7 – And here is why…


The benefits of Himalayan Salt Lamps

There is a great amount of benefits to these magical salt crystals! At first I was a little surprised, but after trying them out for a few months, and letting my close friends and family to try them out, I could definitely see the difference they make.

Salt lamps are small powerhouses of Negative Ions, which are released from the lamp to the air we breath thanks to the heat of light bulb inside the salt lamp. Salt lamps attract a lot of moisture to their surface. You’ll even notice that some of the lamps “sweat” while in your house, but when you turn them on, the heat from the light causes this moisture to evaporate back to the room with negatively charged ion particles, which are extremely good for your body and health in general.

In contrast, Positive Ions are BAD for your body, and these are released usually from electronic devices such as computers, cell phones, iPads, microwaves, televisions and so on. And these devices were proven to create many health problems in the body on a physical and  mental level such as different allergies, sleep disorders, stress, anger, lack of focus and so forth.

The GOOD news are, when there is a great amount of negative ions in the air (such as from the salt lamps), the positive ions are neutralized (due to the bonding power of the negative ions), and therefore, the air becomes cleaner and less harmful for your health. And in my opinion, AIR, is the most important substance on our planet, so why not enjoy it when it’s cleaner.

I NEVER talk about, or offer things that I don’t believe in or live by, and if you don’t own one yet (or 5, if you live in a bigger house), you’re missing out.



The Benefits of Negative Ions

  1. Negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to your brain, which helps one to become more alert, energetic, and functioning at a peak level. Lack of clean oxygen flow is the beginning of many health problems.
  2. Negative Ions (as well as the Himalayan Salt Lamps) are known for their antiseptic properties. They are known to protect their environment from germs. Which can reduce colds, and nose and throat irritation.
  3. You’ll get a similar effect as when you are by the ocean. The fresh air by the ocean is charged with negative ions, and that’s why you feel so refreshed after leaving the beach. The Himalayan Salt Lamps have the same effect.
  4. You’ll be constantly protected from the harmful effects of electronic devices which are all over your house. And if you work in an office, you can even plug one to your computer (with a USB cord), and be protected even at work.


In conclusion

Himalayan Salt Lamps have a lot of health benefits considering it’s “only salt”.

I suggest to have one in each room, especially in rooms where there are electronic devices such as a computer or a TV, and a larger one in living rooms or dining rooms. If you have big rooms in the house, I’d suggest to even put a few salt lamps in each room for maximum effect. If you don’t like sleeping with any light on, keep the salt lamp on all day, and turn it off right before going to sleep. By then your room will be charged with negative ions (which is great). 

Leave them on 24/7 if you can, they do not consume much energy since the bulbs are considerably small. The salt lamps work wonders especially in the winter times when we can’t go outside and charge our body with negative ions.
